One Year = 14980 Words (and Six Drafts)

Will handed in his First Year Report today! This means that he is finally a PhD student. Well, almost. After a couple of meetings regarding the report and his progress over the course of this first year, he will officially be registered. In celebration of this event, I stopped by Fitzbillies bakery on the way home from [*my* last day] of work. Fitzbillies is somewhat of a Cambridge institution. Since 1922, Fitzbillies has been feeding (annnnnd fattening) the students, professors, and townspeople of Cambridge. The Chelsea bun is their particular specialty (they claim to have invented it), but the numerous other cakes and pastries on offer are equally delicious if not more so (Mmmm carrot cake...). For this grand occasion, however, I opted for the Mr Froggie cake (and a dark chocolate torte too; Mr Froggie is, well, frog-sized). See below.

Mr Froggie had a rough ride home in Jackie's tote bag.

Will celebrating his Mr Froggie and, of course, submitting his FYR. Yay!

A Day Trip to the Seaside

We went to the beach! It was sunny! See?

No, swimming was not involved. Fish and chips were, however. It is proof that England does have some charming and cute places worth visiting (on a nice day). And, for the first time in our combined 46 years, we stood on a beach that did not face out into the Atlantic Ocean!
